Dear friends,
So much can change in a week. Schools are closed, some thru April 5 in Austin—well beyond the anticipated spring break week. Many parents will have to consider working from home, with kids at home, as a result. But like all things, if we look for the silver lining, we can find one. In this instance, the silver lining can be a new connection with your kids, family and community.
In times of stress, it all boils down to what’s important, and with kids, that means connecting and time together as a family. What an opportunity to turn an unknown and stressful event into a family bonding experience! What an opportunity to help kids help others in distress, and experience the beauty of their power to help.
Over the next several weeks, we will be posting new blogs on our website to support you all during this time. https://for-kids-sake.com/blog/
We will have ideas for inside and outside time, schedules, age-appropriate chores and also educational support ideas and resources.
No doubt, this will be a memorable event for kids today. Like the Depression, or Pearl Harbor, or 911.
In this country, we bind together and get stronger than ever and care for each other. Keep calm. Carry on. Help when you can. Let that be the message they remember as you start that Victory Garden together!
Mr. Rogers would often ask teachers, “Do you wonder if you have made a difference?” With calm and focus to the day, parents can indeed make a difference with their calm management of this national event.
With wishes to you and your family for health and connection together.
Let us know if we can support you.
Best,
Claire and Jennie
